My Great Uncle Percy grew up in Westcliffe-on-Sea in Essex, with his parents, his brother Herbert, and sister Kathleen. As a young man, he was conscripted into the Great War (1914-1918) where following injury he returned home to England. He came back with four books describing his day to day experiences- a war diary. For the rest of his life he worked for the then ‘Law Union and Rock’ Insurance Company, now known as The Royal and Sunalliance.
Percy and his siblings never married; preferring to spend their lives devoted to the care of their parents.
